After the Black Friday deals and Cyber Monday steals, #GivingTuesday is about giving back to our communities and raising awareness about causes that embody your passions.
This is one of my favorite times of the year. Turkey is great, holiday decorations better, but #GivingTuesday is the best!
#GivingTuesday, which takes place on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, was created to remind us that this time of year is more than Black Friday deals and Cyber Monday steals. It’s a day to give back to your community and raise awareness about whatever causes embody your passions.
It’s my favorite because it allows us fundraisers to break the mold and step outside the standard end-of-year appeal. Here at the New HampshireCommunity Loan Fund, we encourage our staff, board and supporters to take UNselfies (selfies with a #GivingTuesday message, like the one at left). We then use these photos on our Web site and social media feeds to raise funds and spread awareness. These pictures have led to some hilarious situations and meaningful conversations.
So on Tuesday, Nov. 29, please keep an eye on our Twitter, Facebook, and other social media feeds to learn more about why our supporters and staff love the work we do. Take the opportunity to donate to those organizations whose work you love, and please share and retweet not only our #GivingTuesday messages, but also those of your other favorite charities.
