We're putting out a welcome mat for more manufactured homes
By Jennifer Hopkins
Our new Welcome Home Loans are real mortgage loans for manufactured homes located in N.H. on the homeowner's land or in resident-owned communities.
We recently got a call from a mom in Nottingham who couldn't get a bank loan to buy a manufactured home.
We get a lot of these calls. Unless you have A+ credit and 20 percent of the purchase price as a down payment, few banks will make a mortgage loan for a manufactured home. If the house was built prior to 1976, you won't find any financing at all.
This mother was striving to own a modest home for her family, and found the perfect one on a small lot in Nottingham. She had excellent credit and paid all her bills on time. Owning this home would cost $220 per month less than the rent she was paying. But she didn't have enough savings to put 20 percent down.
She needed a lender that understood manufactured homes, that offered real mortgage financing and required a small down payment.
Starting today, we're that lender. Our new Welcome Home Loans are real mortgage loans for manufactured homes located in New Hampshire, when the homeowner owns the land or when the home is in a resident-owned community.
We're committed to helping people buy manufactured homes because they're the nation's largest source of unsubsidized, low-cost housing. In rural areas, manufactured homes may be the only affordable housing available. We've helped families buy manufactured homes in resident-owned communities for 10 years, and they've rewarded us with a repayment record any lender would envy.
We are excited about expanding Welcome Home Loans deeper into New Hampshire's communities. And we look forward to welcoming this Nottingham family home.
